Here’s a tutorial on how to add a border around your image using Photoshop. I am using Photoshop CS3, however you can use this on any of the never versions of Photoshop as well, and on any operating system.
I have made a video using the same instructions – if you would like to watch the video (it’s 2 minutes), then click here
Open your image in photoshop, and create a new blank layer.
Select the Paint Bucket tool from the tool bar. It doesn’t matter what colors are selected, as we will edit them out anyway.
Now go to your image, making sure that you are on the new layer you had created, and click on the image. The entire area of your image should become a single color, depending on the color you had set. In my example, it became blue.
Go to the layers pain and double click on the layer you had created. This will open up the Functions pane. Your first screen should be on the “Blending Options: Default” pane, as shown below. Go to Fill Opacity, and make it 0.
Now go to the Stike option at the bottom. By clicking on it, it becomes selected. You will need to change Position from Outside to Inside, as shown below. You can now see the border around your image. Play around with the size of the border (using Size), and the colors until you get the border you want.
Merge all your layers together by going to Layers –> Merge Visible. Then save it, upload it, and share it with the world!
This is the image that I made:
