I really don’t know where the time is going! At least I’m trying to update my blog – I figure that if I can at least attempt to keep updating my sites, then I won’t let years of hard work go down the drain. So I’ve been at school for about a month and a half now, and I’m really enjoying it! I’ve joined the Game Design Club, and even though I know absolutely nothing about games, I’m learning quite a lot. I actually made my first game two weeks ago, and even though it’s pretty simple, I’m really proud of it. I’ll figure out a way to share it with whoever would like to take a look and play it.
So I think I’m going to try and take this blog into a different direction. Rather than blogging about my life (which I may occasionally do, though if you’re really interested in that, then I suggest you follow my twitter account. I feel like as I grow as a coder/developer/programmer/software engineer, I would like to share some of my discoveries, thoughts and ideas about that in my blogs, rather than the fact that I got an awesome gift for my birthday (which I did, btw). So todays blog will be a mix of the two, and then we’ll see how it goes from there.
I guess the reason I decided to write my blog now (as opposed to any other time of the day) was that I went on a mass uploading spree on my photoblog, and finally added some of the pictures that I really love from my summer holiday. There are plenty more pictures to come that I will eventually add up, but I just thought I would share some of these with you for now. You can visit my photoblog at www.picturemenot.com. I’m also still working on updating Just Smile, and have some ideas in the works for that project.
Over the summer, I talked about working on a new project – Affies Me Not, an Affiliate (or blogroll list) Management script. Well, I finished it a while ago, and have it available in Beta mode for anyone interested in testing it out. If you’re an interested developer, there is also an opportunity for you to get involved in the project and try your hand at fixing a bug, or even adding a new feature. For more information about Affies Me Not, check it out at my (desperately needs a facelift) portfolio: www.aashni.me/scripts. I am currently waiting for inspiration to set in for another possible project I want to work on.
Finally, I am in University, and that means I have classes and clubs that I’m involved in. I’m taking part in the Game Design club this year, and have really enjoyed it so far. I learnt how to make a game using a software called Game Maker, and will consider playing around with the program more, and making more of a game soon. The one I’ve made so far is literally a two person game where you shoot at globs, and play for a total of 60 seconds. We shall see how this game development goes…
In other news, the classes I’m taking this year seem to be pretty interesting so far. In my “coding” class, we’re learning how to use C to program, however our first assignment was using Shell Programming (programming in the terminal) to create a student database system. It was interesting, and intense. My other class is about Databases, and we’re learning how to use SQL and make certain SQL queries based on the information that I want. The first assignment was pretty interesting, though its one of those assignments where I could have easily done really well, or really badly in it. Two of my other classes are Linear Algebra and Statistics. They’re required classes for my course unfortunately
I’m also taking an Economics class, as I do plan on getting a Major in Economics as well – we’ll see how that goes.
Anyway, it’s late (again) and I’m exhausted! Midterms are upon me, with my first midterm being this Monday on Stats. Yay?
Good luck with your midterms! I’m assuming this is your first year in university? Best of luck to you. Midterms were really scary for me, since I had no idea what to expect, but I’ve overall found most of my classes and exams to be easier than the classes and tests I had in high school… Which was good.
And it’s great that you’re enjoying your club! One of my boyfriend’s majors in university was Computer Engineering, and he was also an Economics major (his last major was Neuro Biology), so I guess it’s not unheard of combination to do econ and computer related majors together! He is now a Bio Medical Engineering major at a graduate school in Switzerland, and currently applying for med schools though… So he’s really all over the place…
But college is a great place to learn as much as you can about everything and anything that interests you! I’ve taken so many random classes, and I’m really glad I got to, instead of being strapped down into specific required courses. I’ve learned a lot about really random stuff, like Renaissance Art History and Japanese History, History of the Atomic Bomb, Psychology of Social Networking Services… Etc…
Good luck with midterms, and have fun learning new stuff!

I was thiking the same with my sites. Though I’m still all over the place with my .com blog but my .info blog seems to be sort of coming together.
Anyways, I wish you the best on your midterm!

The pictures at your photoblog are really good! And the game design club sounds great, there weren’t any clubs at my boring school! Oh only the newspaper club, but everyone used to trow those away ;p Aww I have to admit I’m a bit jealous when I read about the great classes you get. Is the coding class difficult?
Oh wow I really got to take a look at your script, the affiliate script. It sounds great, I’m not that good with scripts though ;o I just recently learned how to use jquery with a lot of help of my sister who get’s it all so much faster then me!

I wish you luck on your midterms!

Making a game is so awesome. My cousin once taught me how two years ago, but I didn’t even dare to try and make one myself. I bet it will just end up as an epic-fail game.
I followed you on Twitter: @jeejazzy . Hope you follow me back.
Linear Algebra and STATISTICS! Statistics was one of my favorite subjects when I was a High School Freshman (last year) and as far as I know, we’re gonna have Linear Algebra when I become an HS Senior. Is Linear Algebra difficult or…?
Good luck on your midterms!

Congrats to you for participating in clubs for college! Sounds really exciting! I was searching around our universities online portal to see if there were any clubs I could join.
You’ve bought a great idea to my attention! I’ll start sending out emails to local businesses to see if they need a website. My only thing is, the website would have to be very simple because I’m not good at web or graphic design.

Good luck with Midterms! I hope you do very, very well! ^^
I have never been one for college clubs, but they always seem so much fun at least xD However, I have also taken to trying to code using C and C++. I will probably take a class in college for it, but I figured I’d get a head start anyways xD
I hope you have a great week and again, good luck with Midterms! ^^

I totally get what you mean with trying to update your blog. Because so much time has passed since I last blogged, I get really lazy even though there’s so much to write about. Blast my procrastination.
Love, love, love the pictures on your photo blog! The animals <3
I feel so useless because I've been in university for 3 years and have joined NO societies. I attempted this year to join the Creative Writing society but I got super super busy within the first 2 weeks that I got back and was like, "Nope, can't do this.". Sigh.
What do you study? It sounds very complicated
Maybe that's just me. Haha. Good luck with our midterm!

Those classes sound interesting. Haha. I would hate to have them though. So, hope you do good!

I’ve never heard of an affiliate script before! I might be interested in using it if I ever get around to having affies again. I don’t know enough people who still blog to have affiliates. It kinda sucks
Good luck on all your midterms, I know they’re pretty stressful!
